It has been said, “Friends are like good health; you don’t realize what a gift they are until you lose them.” With that in mind, the theme for our “Friends and Family Service” was “Celebrating with our Friends.” We have truly been blessed by God with our family and friends and Sunday provided an opportunity for our church to thank God for the people he has placed in our lives and also to share with our family and friends about the greatest friend Jesus Christ.
If you happened to miss last Sunday’s service, you missed a great time of celebrating God with our family and friends. We had a great turnout for our special day with over 220 attending the worship service with many guests including at least two families from our Thanksgiving outreach. The singing was uplifting and Bro. Ruben preached a God-exalting message about celebrating the Lord with friends. The sermon was followed with heart moving testimonies from Bro. Chema, Bro. Carlos, and Bro.Rafael demonstrating how friends reach friends for Christ. Of course on such a special day there must be food involved and once again our ladies prepared a great meal for everyone to enjoy. It is so awesome to see our members, from teens to adults, sitting with our guests and enjoying a meal together, making the guests feel welcomed. Yet with all these exciting activities, the highlight of the day occurred when a young lady came to saving faith in Jesus Christ. What a great day! God is good!
In order to make this service such a wonderful celebration required the sacrificial giving of our entire church. Thank you to all those who gave of their time, talent, and money to help make our Friends and Family Service such a great day. From the working in and around the church, to the baking of the food, to the cleaning up afterwards, it was truly took a team effort from our entire church. And God blessed our effort! It is my prayer that everyone involved in our special service will know the joy from knowing that they were used as God’s instruments in helping others hear about His love and mercy. Let’s continue to use this energy and zeal we exhibited in the planning and preparing of this wonderful day to reach our community with the good news of Jesus Christ. To God be the Glory!
