FMBC PASTORS CORNER

A Blog for the Pastors of FMBC Bellflower

Thought/ Prayers for the day

In days of sunshine, live so that in the days of rain you will still be happy.

When you live with no thought given about tomorrow, you may not like the person who that is looking back at you in the mirror the next morning.  If you compromise yourself, looking for the short cuts, or the easy way out, then you have to live with the results of your actions.  The work you put in today leads to the rewards of tomorrow.  Or conversely the indulgencies of today can lead to tomorrows ruin.

Proverbs 28:19-20 “19The person who works their land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have their fill of poverty.  20A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.”

Thought/ Prayers for the day

I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.   Bill Cosby

There is no magic bullet or one key element of success.  However, we can ensure failure by trying to appease the masses.  Jesus Christ had a clear cut vision for his ministry.  He did not allow Himself to become sidetracked by anything as he diligently worked towards His main objective: glorifying the Father.  There will be obstacles, objections and obstructions along the way, but out goal is not to please people; it is to please God!

Proverbs 23:17-21 “17Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD.  18 There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. 19 Listen, my son, and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path. 20 Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, 21 for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.”

Thought/ Prayers for the day

Love is not blind - it sees more, not less.  But because it sees more, it is willing to see less.  -Rabbi Julius Gordon

As we get to know each other more deeply, the sheen begins to chip away from the facades that we build up around ourselves for people.  Rather than becoming self conscious in that knowledge, and keep on pretending to be what you are not, abandon illusions and be who you are.  Christ loves you from right where you are at, and you will be surprised; your brothers and sisters in Christ by the grace of God will do the same.

Psalm 139:23-24 “23Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  24See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
